For a decade, my job was to ensure the safety of the C-17 Globemaster III, a $220 million aircraft. This wasn’t just a job; it was a serious responsibility where mistakes could be catastrophic. I led maintenance teams in some of the most challenging places, including two combat deployments. In 2010, I received an Air Force Medal of Excellence for saving a stranded aircraft in a hostile area in Iraq. This mission demanded clear focus, deep systems knowledge, and unwavering resolve in the face of stress and danger.
That experience gave me a clarity that few jobs can offer. When you strip everything away, the mission is all that matters. You ensure a system works. You take care of the people who rely on it. That same clarity now guides every digital system, lead generation strategy, and 3D e-commerce site I build.
The Mind of an Instructor and Curriculum Designer
My final three years in the Air Force were spent as a certified instructor of aircraft maintenance technology. I didn’t just teach a curriculum. I taught people how to be effective problem solvers. Eventually, after becoming a certified curriculum writer, I took it upon myself to redesign the outdated teaching aids at the Washington state, C-17 schoolhouse. This led to the complete overhaul of training materials. My work directly affected hundreds of new USAF students training to become certified to work on multibillion dollar aircraft fleet. That is the footprint of my legacy in the Air Force. Til this day, my efforts continue to serve the men and women passing through that school house, almost decade after pursuing a civilian profession as a digital business developer.
This experience gave me a big idea for my civilian career. I realized the same skills—making complex information easy to understand and creating engaging presentations—were incredibly valuable for commerce.
